Poppies & Bird's Eye Gilia
I completed this poppy painting in 2021 and recently decided to add a pop of colors to this composition with triadic colors featuring Bird’s Eye Gilia. A triadic color represents three colors on the color wheel that are an equal distance from one another. This is known as a “color harmony”, which brings together “warm” and “cool” colors in equal measure to provide balance. This wildflower is native to California and it is often visited by bees and hummingbirds. The blooms are trumpet shaped, violet and white with a yellow throat, and they have a sweet scent with a hint of chocolate!
